Lawmakers have asked the Nasarawa State Pension Bureau to be transparent and accountable in pension and gratuity payments.
The chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation of the Nasarawa parliament, Hudu Alhaji, made the call when the director-general of the pension bureau, Suleiman Nagogo, appeared before the committee on its 2025 budget assessment on Tuesday in Lafia.
Mr Alhaji called on Mr Nagogo and his management to fulfil their responsibilities to ensure no one is shortchanged. The lawmaker commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his constant payment approval to ensure pensioners are paid on time.
He assured them of the house’s full support to enable them to deliver on their mandates.
The committee chairman noted that the plight of the pensioners remains his top priority.
Mr Alhaji added that the committee would continue to monitor the bureau’s activities to ensure that the right thing is done for the overall development of Nasarawa.
Mr Nagogo, in his response, commended the governor for giving accelerated approval for the payment of pension and gratuity to pensioners.
