The Nigerian Exchange Group, in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria and MinieMoney, empowered over 200 students with vital financial skills on Thursday.

This initiative formed part of the 2025 Global Money Week celebration, aimed at promoting financial awareness among young people globally.

The 2025 theme for Global Money Week is ‘Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow,’ encouraging prudent financial decision-making for a secure future.

The Global Money Week is an annual campaign fostering financial awareness in children and youths from an early age.

It aims to help young people acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for financial well-being and resilience throughout their lives.

The 13th edition of Global Money Week is being held from March 17 to 23.

Speaking at the event, Abimbola Babalola, NGX head of trading and products, stressed financial literacy’s role in shaping the futures of young Nigerians.

“The choices you make today with money will influence the quality of your future,” Mr Babalola noted, highlighting the importance of early financial education.

He urged students to understand saving, investing, and managing money responsibly, as these skills lead to long-term financial success.

Christian Mordi, CBN assistant director, introduced the ‘Sabi Money’ platform, created to boost financial education across Nigeria.

“Financial literacy means more than numbers; it involves discipline, patience, and informed choices that support economic security,” Mr Mordi explained.

Gbolahan Faniran, MinieMoney CEO, stressed the value of early investment and the benefits of compound interest for building wealth over time.

“Financial success isn’t about trends; it’s about making deliberate money decisions today for a secure tomorrow,” Mr Faniran said.

Students participated in discussions on financial literacy, investment, and capital markets and experienced the NGX trading floor in action.
