Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1: Nigeria’s Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, has said only proactive leaders can solve the challenges affecting the country. Osinbajo made the remark on Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to Abdulwasiu Lawal, Oniru of Iruland, in Lagos.

2. The Ebonyi State Police Command on Monday said it has rescued over twenty-six abducted children from kidnappers who took them to other states of the federation. The Commissioner of Police, CP. Aliyu Garba made this known while speaking to journalists during a four-day media dialogue.

3. The Managing Director and Chief Executive of National Inland Waterways, NIWA, George Moghalu, yesterday announced that the 2nd Niger Bridge will be opened to traffic from February 2022.

4. Suspected Fulani Herdsmen, at the weekend, attacked two brothers at Ikot Atasung, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, killing one and leaving the other severely injured. The Police Spokesperson in Akwa Ibom, SP Odiko Macdon confirmed the incident, describing it as unfortunate.

5. The Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors, yesterday, condemned what it described as mindless borrowing by the APC-led administration at the centre. This was contained in a communique issued at the end of a one-day meeting of the 14 PDP governors in the country held on Monday at the banquet hall Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

6. The Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Dave Umahi, said on Monday that leaders of the geopolitical zone were opposed to secessionist agitations in the part of the country. The governor made this known on Monday while featuring on Politics Today, a Channels TV program.

7. Two military aircraft have reportedly killed over 1,000 cows in multiple attacks on Fulani settlements in Keana and Doma local government areas of Nasarawa State. Fulani leaders and some of the victims told newmen on Monday that the attacks were launched between Thursday, June 10 and Sunday, June 13.

8. A 60-metric tonnes cassava starch factory built by the Bayelsa State government will be inaugurated soon, said Governor Douye Diri. He stated this when he inspected the factory at Ebedebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

9. Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole on Monday resumed his political battle with Governor Godwin Obaseki over the non-inauguration of 14 APC House of Assembly members-elect. Oshiomhole, who addressed an enlarged meeting of APC leaders in Edo North at Iyamho, his country home, said it was unjustifiable that the 14 lawmakers-elect had not been inaugurated.

10. Seventy-one-year-old Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje says he will remain politically active after the expiration of his second term in 2023. The governor stated this while fielding questions from reporters in Kano at the weekend.
