In a statement on Monday, in Lagos, the company said regional and international flights would be operated from Lungi International Airport, Freetown.

Aviation company Xejet says it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sierra Leone Government to operate a national carrier for the country.

Emmanuel Iza, Chief Executive Officer of Xejet Ltd., in a statement on Monday, in Lagos, said that regional and international flights would be operated from Lungi International Airport, Freetown.

Mr Iza said that the Sierra Leone government and Xejet had been in discussions and with agreement that the company establishes and operates a national carrier for the country.

He said that the parties further agreed to work together to successfully execute the project to international standard.

“The MoU was signed by the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mr Kabineh Kallon, on behalf of the government and Mr Emmanuel Iza for Xejet in the presence of Dr Rex Idaminabo (Consulting Associate) and Mr Floyd Davis, Deputy Director, Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA),” he said.

He said that officials from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation were also in attendance.

“Xejet Aviation was set up to provide air transport services in the areas of passenger, cargo, aircraft maintenance and aviation training,” he said.

He said the company was founded and run by a team of experienced technocrats with years of experience in airline and air operations.
