The National Identity Management Commission has urged Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing ward-level enrolment drive to register and obtain their National Identification Number.
NIMC’s spokesman Kayode Adegoke announced this on Wednesday.
Mr Adegoke said NIN remained a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria.
“The commission, therefore, encourages all citizens and residents who have not yet enrolled to take advantage of this decentralised exercise and present themselves at designated ward enrolment centres.
“To ensure smooth operations, members of the public are advised to check the NIMC website for the nearest designated enrolment point within their ward and cooperate with enrolment officials.
“Nigerians are expected to provide accurate information during registration as well as visit and follow NIMC official communication channels for verified information and update website and social media accounts,’’ he said.
Mr Adegoke said NIMC remains committed to achieving inclusive identity coverage nationwide and calls on all citizens and residents to come out en masse to register and obtain their NIN.
The initiative began on February 16 with the aim of ensuring comprehensive registration of all citizens and legal residents, including children and adults, in the national identity database.
