The Nigerian Medical Association has commended Governor Abba Yusuf for renovating over 200 primary healthcare centres and upgrading some PHCs and cottage hospitals to general hospitals.

NMA Kano chairman, AbdulRahman Ali, gave the commendation in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kano regarding the 2025 Physicians Week.

Mr Ali said the gesture would improve the health system and boost the welfare of healthcare workers statewide. He said the measures would equally motivate workers to redouble efforts. He appealed to the state government to ensure a motivated and well-compensated health workforce.

The chairman also urged the government to consider their training and retraining for better service delivery. He appealed to governments and private health partners to work together towards achieving healthcare objectives.

Mr Ali gave the assurance that NMA members would continue to support the state government policies that promote healthcare development.
