Thousands of residents from the five local government areas of northern Cross River State living in Abuja on Monday held a solidarity rally in support of Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally, held at Millennium Park, drew political stakeholders, youth groups, women’s associations, traditional leaders and party faithful from the northern senatorial district.
Organisers described the event as a demonstration of appreciation for the leadership and development strides associated with the trio.
Participants praised Mr Jarigbe for his representation at the National Assembly and his continued commitment to the development of Cross River.
Speakers at the rally also commended Mr Otu for his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, economic revitalisation and improved governance in the state.
Community leaders who addressed the gathering said the people of Northern Cross River were satisfied with the working relationship between Cross River and the federal government under Mr Tinubu.
They said the collaboration created opportunities for increased federal presence in the state through road projects, economic initiatives and social intervention programmes.
“The people of Northern Cross River stand firmly with JAJ, Governor Otu and President Tinubu. Their leadership represents stability, development and progress for our state and the country,” one of the speakers said.
Convener of the rally, Obi Odu, said the gathering was organised to publicly endorse Jarigbe and appreciate his performance in office.
According to him, the senator has exceeded expectations in delivering democratic dividends to the district’s people.
