The Ogun State Government has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the road from Ilara in the Remo North Local Government Area to Ilishan in the Ikenne LGA of the state.

The state Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this on Saturday during the Afotamodi Day celebration held at the AUD Primary School at Isara-Remo.

The governor also announced that his administration had re-awarded a contract for the reconstruction of Awolowo road in Ikenne.

Mr Abiodun added that a contract for phase three of the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Saapade road had been awarded, promising that the project would be completed on time.

He said, “We have awarded the contract from Ilara to Ilishan. The road that was affected by the ongoing airport construction is about eight kilometres long. The contractor has resumed and commenced work. The road will pass through Ode to Akaka. It is a very long road. By the grace of God, that road will soon be completed.’’.

Mr Abiodun said his administration appreciated the people of Isara for their contributions to his government’s success.

He added that he would continue to support the town and the people in their quest to develop it.

The governor, thereafter, donated N20 million towards the development of Isara-Remo community, promising to celebrate the next edition of the festival with the people of the town.

Earlier, the Odemo of Isara-Remo, Oba Adebose Mayungbe, commended the sons and daughters of the town for their love and support.

Mr Mayungbe thanked Mr Abiodun for his love for his people and the state as a whole.

The celebration of Afotamodi Day was an event held with the theme “A legacy of culture and tradition.’’
