It was pomp and pageantry at the formal inauguration of JKU Institute of Leadership and Counseling (JILC) and the induction of pioneer fellows and members on 12 October 2023, at Symposium 1, Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama District, Abuja, with Sir (Dr) Mike Mbama Okiro, the 13th Inspector General of Police as the Event Chairman and Mr. Laurent De Boeck, Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria, delivering the keynote address on the special topic of the event: Illegal Migration and the Psychological Impact on Victims and Security Forces.

The event had the leadership of key federal government agencies in the migration and security agencies ably represented: the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); as well as non-governmental organizations, members of the academia and media.

Bishop Dr. Juliana King, the Founder and President of Juliana King University, Houston, Texas, USA and the Chairperson of the International Leadership Board of JKU Institute of Leadership and Counseling (JILC) delivered the Welcome address via video link from Houston Texas and formally inaugurated the institute.
