The U.S. Embassy in Accra has asked Ghanaians seeking to travel for business or tourism purposes to urgently book their visa appointments, announcing the availability of over 2000 interview slots over the next few weeks.
In a statement on Wednesday, the U.S. government urged prospective tourists in the B1 and B2 categories including those hoping to watch the 2026 World Cup to take advantage of the surplus interview slots running into thousands.
“We have more than 2,000 visa appointment slots available in the next two weeks for B1/B2 travelers — whether you’re planning a business trip, visiting family, general tourism, or wanting to watch the World Cup!,” stated the U.S. government.
The embassy also advised Ghanaian applicants with interview dates scheduled for later in the year to consider bringing them forward to fast-track the process.
“If you already have a U.S. visa appointment for later in the year, consider moving it up now,” the statement added.
Ghana is among a handful of African countries unaffected by Donald Trump’s administration ban on non-immigrant visas.
Last year, the government of President John Mahama successfully negotiated with the U.S. State Department to reverse the single-entry, three-month validity limit previously imposed on non-immigrant visas issued to Ghanaians.
