The Anambra State Police Command has taken steps to ensure that the upcoming gubernatorial primaries in the state are conducted peacefully, securely, and in an orderly manner.

Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the deployment of officers and operatives to all designated venues across the state.

The move is part of a strategy to guarantee a violence-free and credible selection of party flagbearers ahead of the November governorship election.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner emphasized the need for political actors and the public to conduct themselves within the framework of the law.

“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, during an interaction with strategic officers of the Command on April 4, 2025, acknowledged the commencement of political activities in the State,” the statement read.
