A former United Kingdom ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson, is facing a fine of £300 after he was reportedly caught in London urinating in public.

Several pictures published by the Daily Mail showed Mr Mandelson urinating on a wall in the upmarket London area after leaving Osborne’s home in November last year.

However, the Kensington and Chelsea council said it has been unable to send the former Labour minister an official notice of penalty as his official address had yet to be ascertained, according to the BBC.

The BBC reported that the council said its street enforcement officers couldn’t issue Mr Mandelson a fine immediately as they weren’t at the scene of the incident but witnesses and pictures confirmed the act happened.

The fixed penalty notice carries a fine of up to £300, reduced to £150 if paid within two weeks.

Mr Mandelson was the UK’s topmost diplomat in Washington until September 2025 when he was sacked by Prime Minister Keir Starmer over his close relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

He was arrested by the UK police in February this year as part of an investigation into whether he leaked Downing Street emails and market-sensitive information to Mr Epstein.

The deep ties between Messrs Mandelson and Epstein were exposed in files released by the U.S. Department of Justice last year.
