MOSCOW

The Supreme Court of Russia on Thursday approved a legal request filed by the General Prosecutor’s Office and recognized late opposition figure Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) as “a terrorist organization.”

The trial proceedings were held in camera, and the ruling was published by the court’s press service.

“The court declares the American nonprofit corporation Anti-Corruption Foundation, Inc. (ACF, ACF International, Anti-Corruption Foundation, Inc.) a terrorist organization,” the court said.

In 2021, the Moscow City Court had already recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation and the Civil Rights Protection Fund (ACF and CRPF), as well as the civic movement Navalny’s Headquarters, as extremist organizations, approving a legal request filed by the city prosecutor’s office.

The court ordered the liquidation of both foundations and the cessation of their activities.

The prosecution’s complaint had asserted that all these entities engaged in forming conditions for destabilizing social and socio-political situations in Russia.

According to the document, their practical goals include “creating conditions for altering the constitutional order, including through a color revolution.”

The Anti-Corruption Foundation was founded by Navalny, who died in prison in 2024.
