This is not the first time the Sanwo-Olu administration has banned Okada operations in parts of Lagos.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has ordered commercial motorcycles (Okada) to stop operations in six Local Government Areas of the state.

Mr Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Wednesday during a meeting with Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

He asked motorcycle operators in the state to seek alternative livelihoods as the enforcement of the ban will be effective starting from June 1, 2022.

The areas banned for Okada operations include; Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Apapa Local Government Areas

The ban comes days after a passenger, David Sunday was lynched by Okada operators in Lekki. The murder has sparked public outrage.

This is not the first time the Sanwo-Olu administration has banned Okada operations in parts of Lagos, yet enforcement seems to fizzle out months after announcement.
