The police command in Lagos says it has arrested a suspect for threatening to bomb several schools in Lagos.
The suspect, Kosisochukwu Chukwuekenyem, was arrested on Sunday.
The police did not disclose the suspect’s motive, whether he demanded a ransom, or whether he was acting alone.
“He (Mr Chukwuekenyem) has been arrested, and he has confessed to being the one who owns the number and sent those threatening messages,” the police spokeswoman in Lagos, Abimbola Adebisi, told Peoples Gazette. “He was arrested on Sunday.”
The police officer added, “He hasn’t (disclosed the motive behind the threats). We need to know his motive behind that, what prompted him.
“The investigation is ongoing. We just arrested the guy. But as we speak, those are just the details we have: his name, and he has confirmed that the number (WhatsApp) belongs to him. He has been using it, but we do not yet know his motive.
“In fact, we’ve contacted his family, and the father confirmed that he has been very stubborn and a tyrant over the years. But the investigation is still ongoing.”
Among the schools threatened were Grange and Avi-Cenna, forcing them to shut down.
The schools told The Gazette they reopened on Monday.
