Daniel Bwala, a spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, has stated that the government will, in a matter of days, reveal the identities of those sponsoring and financing terrorism in Nigeria.

Mr Bwala, who spoke during an interview aired on TVC, said the Mr Tinubu-led administration is already taking far-reaching and decisive steps on national security, especially in uncovering individuals and networks enabling terrorist activities across the country.

“The government is making decisive interventions. In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are, and those funding them,” the special adviser to Mr Tinubu on policy communication said on Sunday.

Mr Bwala noted that the government is intensifying efforts to counter the operations of armed bandits whose activities, kidnapping for ransom, killings, and raids, continue to threaten communities nationwide.

He also stressed that terrorism has evolved into a global phenomenon that transcends borders, making international cooperation crucial in combating extremist groups.

“Since the events of 9/11, terrorism has been treated as a global security issue. Any nation where terrorists operate becomes a concern to the rest of the world,” Mr Bwala said.

The presidential spokesman added that global powers have increasingly recognised the need to support countries like Nigeria, where extremist groups seek to expand their influence.

Mr Bwala explained that radical activities once dominant in parts of the Middle East have gradually shifted to the Sahel region, creating new centres of instability that require deeper regional and international coordination.

His comments come amid fresh violent attacks in parts of the country, including Kwara, Kogi, Kebbi, and Katsina states, where armed bandits have carried out kidnappings and deadly assaults in recent days.
