In a statement on Saturday, the institution’s spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, said this is part of the activities for the event.

Mr Akogun said, “On October 22, the university’s visitor, President Bola Tinubu, is expected to commission some newly completed projects in the institution,” he stated.

Akogun disclosed that the programme would begin on October 18 with Chief Lateef Fagbemi, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, delivering the institution’s 2024 Convocation Lecture.

“The ceremonies will formally begin with a news conference by the vice-chancellor on October 17, to be followed by the convocation lecture, which has the topic ‘Nurturing Democratic Values and Education for the Future of Nigeria’,” he said.

Mr Akogun added that on the same October 18 would witness the presentation of a convocation play titled “ ‘Nilee Wa’ (In Our Land)” scheduled to be held at the institution’s performing arts theatre.

He further said the main convocation event would be held on October 21 and 22.

”This is for graduands of four and five-year programmes of the university, as well as the postgraduate school, respectively.”
