A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu has declared that the coalition being championed by former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and others cannot stop President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Idimogu, who is the deputy leader of the Ndigbo group in Lagos APC, made the comment during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.

He dismissed the opposition’s adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a viable political platform, saying it “will not achieve much” against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said: “APC is a very big party and it will be very hard for any party or even coalition to defeat it in 2027.

“The party has a lot of notable men and women. We understand that politics is about interest and that there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy, but let them gather, by the grace of God, they cannot unseat Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That is the truth.”

He argued that if Tinubu could not be stopped on his path to power, efforts to remove him now that he is president would be even more difficult.

“To say you want to remove Tinubu is a difficult thing. When you look at his journey to where he is today, you will know that unseating him is something that will be very difficult.

“Those who know the enormous power the president has should know that it would be a waste of time. Tinubu is a strategist, who knows the success path in politics,” he said.

Idimogu said Tinubu would not only finish his first term but also secure re-election for a second term “by God’s grace.”

The APC chieftain also urged southern politicians to rally behind Tinubu the same way northern politicians backed former president Muhammadu Buhari during his eight years in office.

According to him, many politicians are driven by personal ambitions rather than the national interest.

He expressed doubts about the sincerity of the ADC coalition and predicted it would suffer internal crises before the 2027 election.

“At best, the coalition would only produce some lawmakers, but not the president.

“No shaking for Tinubu in 2027. Tinubu will return as president. I pray for him and wish him well. God will do it for him,” he stated.
