Armed group in Khartoum raided residence of Tunisian ambassador to Khartoum and looted his belongings

TUNIS

Tunisia announced on Sunday that the residence of its ambassador in the Sudanese capital Khartoum was raided condemning the attack.

In a written statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that an armed group in Khartoum raided the residence of the Tunisian Ambassador to Khartoum, Shafik Hacci, and looted his belongings.

What the armed groups did was a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and a violation of respect for the buildings belonging to diplomatic missions, the statement added.

Ambassadors, diplomats and many Tunisians working in Khartoum were evacuated in April.

Clashes between the army and the HDK in Sudan

The Sudanese army wanted that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which it once supported but considered a threat because it acted as an independent and parallel army, be fully integrated into the army within two years.

The war of words and tension, which started with the RSF’s declaration that it could accept this in a process spanning about 10 years after a civilian government, turned into an armed conflict between the parties in the capital Khartoum and various cities on the morning of April 15.

In the conflicts in Sudan, which entered its third month, approximately 1,000 people lost their lives and nearly 5,000 people were injured.
