Turkish missions continue to warn countries of dangers posed by FETO terror group, says Ankara’s ambassador to Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia

Türkiye is confident that the international community will support its objective of completely eliminating the FETO terror group, the Turkish envoy to Ethiopia said on Friday.

Turkish diplomatic missions have been “trying to tell many, many countries where FETO has institutions about the dangers this poses for them as well, not just for Türkiye,” Ambassador Yaprak Alp told Anadolu Agency at an event in the capital Addis Ababa.

The event was organized to mark the sixth anniversary of the July 15, 2016 defeated coup attempt by FETO in Türkiye, which left at least 251 dead and over 2,700 injured.

“We are thankful that the Ethiopian government has understood this danger and has been standing by our side,” said Alp.

“We are happy that many countries in the world have understood this danger, and have been closing down schools and companies of this terrorist organization.”

She said various countries carried out investigations into FETO-linked companies and realized they were involved in a raft of illegal activities, including money laundering.

“There are countries where they are still operating, and Türkiye continues to explain the dangers this poses. And we are confident that the international community will stand by our side,” she added.

A video played at the event showed scenes from that fateful night and how the Turkish nation stood up against the coup plotters to foil their attempt to seize power.

“By the time the sun came up the next morning, democracy had won. The terrorist organization was defeated,” Alp said.

“Now Türkiye, through judicial processes, is doing everything in its power to make sure that this terrorist organization is completely crushed.”
