Türkiye and Sudan agreed to start an agriculture pilot project on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Turkish vice president’s office.

Vice President Fuat Oktay welcomed a delegation from Sudan that included Sudanese Minister of Cabinet Affairs Hussein Osman Elderi and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bishri in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Oktay expressed Türkiye’s readiness to contribute to Sudan’s development and he and the delegation exchanged views on allocating fertile agricultural areas in Sudan, cooperation in animal husbandry and the establishment of industrial facilities, especially agriculture and livestock.

The two parties also decided to develop existing mining areas in Sudan and allocate new areas while developing trade.

On energy, Türkiye conveyed its willingness to share expertise on mineral exploration and extraction, oil and natural gas issues in Sudan.
