The police command in Gombe State said on Friday that two suspects had been arrested for allegedly vandalising Transmission Company of Nigeria infrastructure in Tumi village, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, stated this in a statement in Gombe.

The incident occurred at Mararraban Tumu village, targeting tower structures belonging to the TCN.

Mr Abdullahi identified the suspects as Musa Bappa (20) and Musa Usman (22), are both residents of Zange village in Kumo, Akko LGA.

According to him, the suspects were arrested by Akko Division surveillance operatives following credible intelligence.

He said the suspects were found with 14 tower line channel irons believed to have been vandalised from TCN installations within the Gombe sub-region.

Mr Abdullahi stated that the value of the recovered items had yet to be ascertained.

He stated that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to conspiring with one Ibrahim Jauro Barhama and another man identified only as Duna, both now at large.

A team of detectives visited the crime scene, recovered exhibits, and commenced preliminary investigations to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Mr Abdullahi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and warned against sabotage threatening public safety and economic stability.

In a related incident, Mr Abdullahi stated that three suspects were arrested in Bajoga, Funakaye LGA, for criminal conspiracy and motorcycle theft. He said that the stolen motorcycle had been recovered, and investigations continue to prosecute the suspects,
