Tripartite talks aim to advance water, joint energy projects
ANKARA
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, and Israel are scheduled to hold trilateral discussions on the exchange of water and energy on Monday.
Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz arrived in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on Sunday ahead of the talks, which will focus on how to implement a 2021 declaration of intent, he stated on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
According to Israel’s official Arabic-language X account, Katz is participating in the three-way talks to advance water and joint energy projects.
On Sunday, Jordan’s public broadcaster said its delegation would participate in the talks “to discuss the prosperity project, in both parts of water and energy, and ways to push forward towards implementing the declaration of intent signed by the three parties.”
In 2021, the three countries signed a declaration of intent to begin talks to explore the feasibility of a joint energy and water project. The project could allow Jordan to get 200 million cubic meters of water annually.
