WASHINGTON D.C.: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department have warned Americans to avoid travel to Singapore, despite the Asian country dropping quarantine restrictions for vaccinated U.S. travelers.
Both the CDC and State Department cited a “very high level of COVID-19.”
According to Johns Hopkins University, Singapore recorded a high of 70,374 COVID-19 cases over the last 28 days, despite just over 82 percent of Singaporeans being fully vaccinated, while in the U.S. over 57 percent are fully vaccinated and more than 2.8 million cases were recorded over the same period.
Travelers from the U.S. can enter Singapore if they can show proof of vaccination and provide negative results in two PCR tests, one 48 hours before departure and the other upon arrival.
On Monday, the State Department urged Americans to also reconsider travel to Poland, Hungary, Cyprus, Tunisia and Angola due to an “increased risk” of COVID-19.
