Maduro says US decision to not invite Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela was ‘discrimination’

ISTANBUL

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday praised his Mexican counterpart for not attending the Summit of the Americas.

In a video message posted on his Twitter account, Maduro praised Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s “clarity and courage”, adding that not inviting countries, such as Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, to the summit “was an act of discrimination” by the US.

The summit will be held in Los Angeles, California which started Monday and will run through June 10.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced his decision to not attend the event at a press briefing on Monday, sending the country’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard in his stead.
