The Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Igbo people, has urged its parent body to carry it along in the organisation’s activities.

The Zonal Coordinator, South-South Youth Wing of Ohanaeze, Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, said this in a statement signed by him in Owerri, on Friday.

Mr Arthur-Ugwa said that in the light of recent developments, the role of the youths in the society could not be overemphasised, hence the need to carry them along.

He said while the parent body deployed the youths in conflict situations, such as with maintaining peace in the South-East, it relegated them when it was time to appreciate them.

The coordinator commended the Ohanaeze youths in addressing sundry issues such as the sit-at-home by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the resultant killings.

He said the entire region would have witnessed anarchy without the intervention of the youths.

This he said was necessary to give the youths a sense of belonging in accordance with the Organisation’s laid down rules.

“We have remained loyal to the leadership of our President-General, Prof. George Obiozor and we have never been known to be dissident.

“It leaves us wondering why we are not captured in important outings such as the birthday of our leader, Chief Nnia Nwodo and others.

“We call on the leadership of our parent body to rejig its modus operandi with a view to capturing all affiliate arms of the association in all its activities,” he said.

He, however, pledged continued commitment to the Organisation’s objectives for the overall good of all its members.
