Global energy leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators have converged on Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference.

ADIPEC, the world’s largest energy exhibition and conference, is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

The 41st edition, ‘Energy. Intelligence. Impact’, held from Monday to Thursday, brings together international, regional, and local stakeholders across the energy, technology, and finance sectors.

This year’s conference focuses on driving decarbonisation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and local content development for sustainable global energy growth.

In his keynote address, Sultan Al Jaber, UAE minister of industry and advanced technology and ADNOC managing director and group CEO, called for stronger partnerships to enhance global competitiveness.

Mr Al Jaber urged energy industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to emulate the UAE’s pragmatic approach by implementing realistic policies and forming bold partnerships that promote job creation and socio-economic growth.

He said the UAE’s model demonstrated how policies grounded in realism could strengthen Investors’ confidence and drive progress through technology and innovation.

According to him, the conference theme underscores the importance of using intelligence and innovation to drive impact across the global energy system, focusing on building resilience while accelerating sustainable development.

He disclosed that an estimated $4 trillion in annual capital investment is required across grids, data centers,, and diverse energy sources, alongside pragmatic policies to attract funding and spur growth.

“You cannot run tomorrow’s economy on yesterday’s grid,” Mr Al Jaber said, while identifying key demand drivers projected up to 2040. “The key lesson is that policies should be pragmatic, not performative; based on insight, not ideology; built on first principles, not fleeting popularity.
“Regulation without realism and legislation without logic will only weaken economies, stunt societies and drive capital away.”

Over the last four decades, ADIPEC, inaugurated in 1984 as a regional oil and gas forum, has evolved into a premier global event attracting thousands of energy professionals annually.

A high-level delegation from NNPCL, led by its GCEO, Bashir Ojulari, is attending the conference, with Ojulari scheduled to deliver a keynote address.
