WTT Contender Lagos: Omotayo Olajide, Azeez Solanke to face Indian duo in men’s doubles final

Nigerian duo of Omotayo Olajide and Azeez Solanke are into the final of the men’s doubles event at the ongoing 2024 World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Lagos after a tight win over Chinese duo of Fei Junhang and Luo Jiecheng.

Olajide and Solanke cruised to a 3-2 (10-12, 11-7, 11-4, 8-11, 8-11) victory over Fei and Luo to reach the grand finale.

Their victory is very significant for the home supporters as they are the remaining Nigerians in the five-day tournament and they will face the Indian duo of Desai Harmeet and Thakkar Vikash Manav for the grand prize on the final day on Sunday.

Harmeet and Manav thrashed Chinese duo of Ning Xiankun and Kang Youde 3-0 (4-11, 9-11, 5-11).

Meanwhile, it will be an all-Indian clash in the final of the women’s doubles as the duo of Akula Sreeja/ Kamath Girish Archana and Chitale Parag Diya/ Ghorpade Yashaswini for the grand prize.

Sreeja and Archana thrashed Indian duo of Mukherjee Ayhika and Mukherjee Sutirtha 3-0 (7-11, 5-11, 10-12) while Diya and Yashaswini beat Chinese duo of Sun Sinan and Ding Yijie 3-1 (12-14, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11).
