Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved a minor cabinet shuffle and launched a new Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Wali, on Friday in Damaturu said Abdullahi Bego, information commissioner, will now head the new ministry.

The statement said lands and solid minerals commissioner Mohammad Lamin will be the new information commissioner.

It said the governor had also approved that the functions of the lands ministry be subsumed to the Yobe Geographic Information System (YOGIS), a newly established agency.

“The responsibility of administration and management of land matters including issues relating to land allocation title registration, use, searches, charting, cadastral, planning and other responsibilities as may be determined by the governor have been transferred to YOGIS.

“With the signing of the Law to provide for the establishment of YOGIS, the Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals ceases to exist.” the statement said.
