Lusaka, Zambia

Zambia applauded Türkiye’s support Friday for its education sector through the opening of schools in the southern African country.

“The government recognizes the support of Türkiye through the establishment of three schools and two dormitories in the country,” Education Minister Douglas Syakalima was quoted on state television during a ceremony marking the opening of the international Maarif school in the nation’s capital of Lusaka.

Foreign Minister Mulambo Haimbe said the Türkiye Maarif Foundation represented a strong spirit of cooperation between the two nations as well as the shared culture between the people of Türkiye and Zambia.

Turkish Deputy Minister for Education Bilal Macit said Türkiye remained keen on supporting education development in Zambia, with Türkiye’s Ambassador Huseyin Barbaros Dicle adding; “Maarif schools in Zambia symbolize solidarity between the two nations.”
