The government of the United Arab Emirates has confirmed that Iran launched a drone attack on its iconic Burj Al Arab, one of its tallest towers.

The Dubai Government Media Office disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, adding that the drone targeted at the Burj Al Arab tower was intercepted.

“Authorities confirm that a drone was intercepted, and debris caused a minor fire on the Burj Al Arab’s outer facade,” the statement said.

It added, “Civil Defence teams responded immediately and brought the incident under control. No injuries have been reported.”

Iran fired several missiles at countries in the Middle East hosting U.S. bases on Saturday after the Islamic Republic came under a joint attack by the U.S. and Israel.

Saturday’s strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top officials of his government.

The 86-year-old late Supreme Leader of Iran assumed power in the Islamic Republic after the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989.

A 40-day mourning period has been declared for the leader, who reigned over Iran for more than three decades.
