The speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Udeme Otong, has urged medical doctors in the state to stay committed to their core responsibility of saving lives.
Mr Otong made the call in Uyo at a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, chapter.
The speaker said it was important for medical doctors to remain committed to their professional calling by ensuring improved services at healthcare facilities in the state.
He said the Governor Umo Eno-led administration was committed to boosting healthcare delivery through policy initiatives promoting public health.
“It is also important for you to maintain good relationships with nurses and other personnel; you are to learn from one another,” he said.
Prior to this, NARD’s University of Uyo chapter president, Promise Jacob, asked the assembly to back the organisation’s plan to build a secretariat in the state.
Mr Jacob assured that NARD would continue to provide professional and efficient services across healthcare facilities in the state.
