The APC Presidential Coalition Committee has  launched a new grassroots mobilisation drive aimed at boosting voter registration in Lagos State.

The event was inaugurated at the Police College Grounds in Ikeja.

Speaking at the event, the coordinator of the committee in Lagos, James Faleke, said the event brought together thousands of supporters, community leaders, and volunteers for the official inauguration of structures and street captains.

Mr Faleke, representing Ikeja federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said the committee would serve as local representatives who would move door-to-door, encouraging residents to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

He said, “We are here to inaugurate the street captains to move out in the streets and call out all those who have not registered. Encourage them to go and register and collect their PVCs, that is the essence.”

Mr Faleke told the crowd that more than 40,000 street captains had been inaugurated across the state, each tasked with convincing at least five people in their area to register.

“Go to every home, go to your streets, and call out for people to take their PVCs,” he urged. “Without a PVC, you cannot say anything.”

Also speaking, Kolade Alabi, chairman of the planning committee, said the initiative reflected a bigger mission to reconnect governance with the people and strengthen democracy from the grassroots.

“We are united by a shared vision of progress, development, and a stronger democratic Nigeria. Under President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership, our great party continues to redefine governance and strengthen institutions. His reforms, though demanding, are helping to build a self-reliant and resilient economy,” he said.

Mr Alabi, speaking on the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighted the progress in infrastructure, digital growth, agriculture, and social welfare.

According to him, by empowering local councils to operate independently, President Tinubu is bringing governance closer to the people. This is the true essence of democracy.

The event also witnessed a large turnout of notable political bigwigs in Lagos, who sent goodwill messages.

At the event, the inaugurated captains were encouraged to be  good ambassadors in advancing democratic values in their communities.

The newly inaugurated street captains pledged to begin work immediately — hitting the streets, knocking on doors, and ensuring that the voice of every eligible resident( counts in the next election)
