The Zamfara State Government has said that all boarding schools earlier closed by the government should be reopened with immediate effect and be converted to day schools.

In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Alh Aliyu Tukur ES, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital noted that the affected boarding should reopen as day schools to educate students within their immediate environment.

According to the statement, all students from the closed boarding schools should report to the nearest day school in their community to continue with their education.

The Commissioner made it very clear that the system should be boy to boys and girl to girls school system.

“All the affected students should maintain their former school uniforms,” he added.

Hon. Tukur ES further warned that no Principal should collect new registration or charge any levy from the students.

The commissioner explained that a new admission register should be open separately to accommodate the transfer students in their appropriate classes, warning that their records should be compiled.
