President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met former President Goodluck Jonathan behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Personal Assistant on New media to the President, Bashir Ahmed, made this known in a tweet via his Twitter account.

He tweeted, “@MBuhari received former President @GEJonathan today.

“The former leader was at the State House, Abuja, to brief the President over the new political crisis in Mali.

“An ECOWAS delegation led by GEJ was in Bamako, the capital of Mali on Tuesday, for mediation. ”

Jonathan was appointed last year by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as a special envoy to lead the sub-regional body’s mediation mission in Mali.

The former President is expected to facilitate dialogue with all principal stakeholders in the West African country.
