Liu Weidong, former deputy general manager of China South Industries Group Corporation, one of the country’s leading military industry companies, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for accepting bribes.
The judgement was handed down by the Intermediate People’s Court of Nanyang in central China’s Henan Province on Tuesday.
Mr Liu was also fined ¥4 million (about $587,000), while his illegal gains will be confiscated and turned over to the state treasury, according to a court verdict.
The court said that from 1999 to 2025, Mr Liu took advantage of his various posts to assist others in matters such as enterprise operation and personnel adjustment.
In exchange, he accepted bribes worth over ¥41.39 million.
Mr Liu stood trial on January 16, pleaded guilty, and expressed remorse in his final statement.
