The Bowen University authorities have approved the appointment of Folasade Olapade as the university’s fifth substantive bursar.
The approval followed the university’s 122nd Governing Council meeting on May 21.
Ms Olapade assumed office as the university’s fifth substantive bursar on Wednesday.
The Iwo, Osun State-located private, faith-based Christian institution, is run by the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
The university described her as a “seasoned financial management and audit professional,” adding that her experience was expected to ensure the institution’s accountability and operational efficiency.
The university said that her career at the institution began during her one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in 2010, where she worked in the Internal Audit Unit. In 2012, she was appointed Internal Auditor II.
Ms Olapade also served as the Chief Internal Auditor in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Internal Auditor, and Senior Internal Auditor, before becoming the deputy director of Internal Audit in March 2024.
Apart from her professional duties, she promoted Christian values in the institution, serving as Treasurer of the Bowen University Staff Cooperative Investment and Credit Society and as a mentor during the Bowen Mentorship Bootcamp.
Ms Olapade earned a National Diploma in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with First Class Honours from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
In addition, she participated in several professional engagements, including an invitation to the University of Lincoln, UK, in April for insights into financial procedures and processes.
