The Nigeria Immigration Service has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom until November 27, 2026.
The NIS announced the development in a statement by its spokesperson, Akinisola Akinlabi, on Tuesday.
The immigration said the decision followed sustained demand from Nigerians and the need to accommodate more Nigerians seeking passport services.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform Nigerians in the United Kingdom that, in line with the directive of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the ongoing Special Passport Intervention Exercise has been further extended,” the statement said.
The extension came as the current phase of the exercise was expected to end on October 30, following an earlier extension from October 3.
According to the NIS, the extended phase will run from Tuesday, November 3, to Friday, November 27, at designated centres in London and Manchester, while services in Aberdeen and Cardiff will run from November 3 to November 6.
It directed applicants to book appointments through the passport intervention booking portal or the Nigeria High Commission’s website and comply with their scheduled dates and times.
The NIS noted that the recently upgraded contactless passport application system remains a viable alternative for passport renewal for applicants who prefer not to visit the intervention centres or the High Commission.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to efficient, transparent and responsive passport service delivery to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora,” it added.
The latest extension of the UK passport intervention exercise forms parts of the strategic efforts by the federal government to ease passport service delivery to Nigerians home and abroad.
