The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to 11 academic programmes of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), following its October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.

The development is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi by the university’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Jamilu Magaji.

Mr Magaji said the outcome of the exercise was conveyed in a letter dated April 7 and signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the executive secretary.

He explained that the accredited programmes cut across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

“The programmes that secured full accreditation include accounting, English language, biology, chemistry, geology, industrial chemistry, microbiology, physics with electronics, and geography.

“Others are postgraduate programmes such as Master’s in Accounting and M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance,” Mr Magaji said.

Reacting to the development, the vice-chancellor of the university, Muhammad Zaiyan-Umar, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as a reaffirmation of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.

“This achievement reflects the collective dedication and hard work of our academic and administrative staff, as well as the unwavering support of the Governing Council.

“It also underscores our resolve to continue strengthening the university’s academic standards in line with global best practices,” he said.

The vice-chancellor reiterated the university’s commitment to sustaining quality teaching, research, and community service.
