Germany has decided to reduce its diplomatic staff in Israel, Palestine and Lebanon on Saturday amid heightened escalation in the Middle East.
The government’s crisis coordination team decided to reduce staff at Germany’s embassies in Beirut and Tel Aviv, as well as its diplomatic representation in Ramallah due to the volatile security situation, German news agency DPA reported.
The families of diplomatic personnel in Israel, Palestine and Lebanon were ordered to return to Germany, or move to another safe place in the region.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalated to an all-time high on Saturday after the latest Israeli strikes killed Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and top commanders.
