Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo, on Monday, signed a bill into law for the establishment of Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences, and Technology, Udomi in Esan Central Local Government.

Mr Okpebholo, while signing the bill at Government House, Benin, said the institution would stimulate regional growth and development and generate employment opportunities for Edo people.

The governor appreciated the strong synergy between the legislature and executive, urging its continuity.

He stressed that such collaboration would enhance the state’s overall development and rapid progress.

“Let me congratulate the Edo State House of Assembly on this bill they passed and have brought to my office for assent.

“I am most grateful for the cooperation I have received from the legislative arm, which supports our shared vision for Edo State’s transformation.

“I also want to say that Edo people are pleased with our harmonious efforts and the development we are achieving together as one united government.

“This bill is a dream come true for the Udomi community, who have long desired this significant educational and developmental milestone in their area,” he said.

The governor emphasised the cordial relationship between lawmakers and the executive, noting that it had supported Edo State’s advancement through constructive collaboration and policy execution.

“Our partnership ensures we deliver meaningful progress. I assure you that we’ll continue working hard to improve the quality of life in Edo State,” he added

Shortly after the bill was signed, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku, who led lawmakers to Government House, praised the governor’s dedication to advancing the state’s development.

Ms Agbebaku said: “Last month, we received a letter regarding the bill for the new nursing college.

“The House thoroughly reviewed the proposed law and recognised its great value. We acted promptly, and today, we are presenting it for your assent.

“In line with Section 100, subsections 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended), we are here for your formal assent.

“Signing this bill marks great progress for Udomi, Uwessan, and Edo State, establishing a state nursing school to drive growth in Esan Central and beyond.” Ms Agbebaku said.
