Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and long-time arch-rival of Bola Tinubu, says he is ready to work with the new president.

Asked if he would consider serving the country if appointed by Mr Tinubu, Mr George said he would not mind serving the country under the new president’s administration because he has nothing personal against him.

“My reaction, like I have said, there is nothing personal. Look, I trained in the military. You know, in the military, whoever is in the trench next to you is your brother,” Mr George explained.

The PDP chieftain added, “When you go out to say, what is our mission in the military? It is to defend our country. If he (Tinubu) comes and says, ‘Look, what do you feel about this? What do you feel about that? Let’s work together in the interest of this country’. Why would I refuse? This nation also trained me.”

Mr George, who had vowed to renounce his citizenship if Mr Tinubu became Nigeria’s president, disclosed this in an interview with journalists at his office in Ikoyi, according to Leadership Newspaper on Friday.

At a press conference on March 19, 2022, Mr George said, “If by whatever chance he gets to the villa, I won’t be part of this country. And I am not joking. I can go to Ghana and be watching with binoculars from afar. You will see what will happen.”

Berating Mr Tinubu, Mr George said, “His wife will now be Senate president. His son will be the governor of Lagos. His daughter will be Iyaloja of Nigeria. What has he done to prove that he deserves to be honoured by anybody in this country?”
