Sunday Igboho Adeyemi, a Yoruba vigilance group leader, has charged members of his security outfit, Iru Ekun Network, to execute bandits and kidnappers extrajudicially.

Igboho made the call while inaugurating members of his Iru Ẹkun Network in Ondo on Tuesday.

“Any bandit you see with a gun in the forest, kill him. If you see any Yoruba or Igbo working with them, kill them too. If you see any Hausa involved in kidnapping, eliminate him immediately,” Igboho told hordes of Iru Ekun Network.

Igboho warned the vigilantes against trampling on the rights of innocent people.

“Don’t fight innocent Igbo and Hausa traders. We are all Nigerians. But anybody who chose kidnapping as business, threatening our collective peace, kill them all,” Igboho said.

Explaining why he ordered extrajudicial killing of armed bandits, Igboho said, “If we hand them (bandits) over to police, they will go to court, and likely after jail they will return to the crime. They are like the proverbial dog that will return to eating faeces.

“The only way we can curb banditry is that anyone found with arms and confirmed a bandit should be killed. Once you hear armed bandits are blocking the expressway from Ondo to Osun, Ondo to Abuja, report to a DPO nearby. Once you meet the bandits on the expressway, eliminate them all.”
