Remi Tinubu, the wife of the APC presidential flag bearer Bola Tinubu, has promised to whip her husband into line should he “derail” after becoming the president.

“We will not disappoint you. Asiwaju will not derail after becoming president. You can count on me to bring him back to line should he derail,” Mrs Tinubu, a senator, promised.

The former Lagos first lady said this on Tuesday at the grand finale of the APC presidential campaign rally at the Teslim Balogun stadium.

“We are now at a critical stage of our campaign. This is our grand finale. God is still faithful. Asiwaju can only become our next president if you go out and vote for him on Saturday,” she appealed to APC members and supporters at the stadium.

Mrs Tinubu added, “You know we have been consistent for the past 23 years, and we are not going to disappoint you. Asiwaju is not running because there is an opportunity for power. He is running because he sees a need he wants to meet.”

Meanwhile, Mr Tinubu has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting his presidential ambition ahead of Saturday’s race.

“Thank you, Mr President, for all you have done. The primaries came; I contested and won. You congratulated me. You didn’t ask them to reverse it based on my religion. You didn’t ask them to change it because I am not from your village in Daura,” stated the APC presidential standard-bearer.

He added, “After winning the party’s primaries, I came to you to choose a running mate for me. You said no, I should go and search by myself that I am intelligent and experienced enough to choose the right person. Then, I brought Kasim Shetima to you. You encouraged me. Thank you, Mr President.”

He also praised the president, who “just returned to the country yesterday, and you promised to be here today, and you are here. You never changed your promise. I want to say thank you, join me to say thank you.”
