The Federal Government has announced a complete ban on mining activities in Zamfara due to the recent security issues witnessed in the state.

The National Security Adviser (NSO), retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno who made this known to newsmen on Tuesday said the state has also been declared a ‘no-fly zone’, NAN reports.

According to him, the ban was placed after being approved by President Mohammadu Buhari.

“The President has approved, the enforcement of a ban on all mining activities in Zamfara with immediate effect until further notice.

“He has directed the Minister of Defence and the National Security Adviser to deploy massive security assets to restore normalcy in the state.

“He has also approved that Zamfara be declared “a no-fly zone’’ with immediate effect,” he said.

He further informed that some suspected culprits have already been placed under surveillance by the security agencies.
