Daniel Bwala, a spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, says Nigeria would have been overrun by bloodthirsty terrorists and bandits if not for the president’s committed intervention.
Mr Bwala, who stated during his appearance on Eagle 102.5 FM programme in Ogun on Thursday, attributed ongoing security breakthroughs to Mr Tinubu’s strategic and resolute interventions.
“Were it not for the various interventions of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria would have become a sorry state security-wise,” the presidential aide said. “Now, when you have this ISIS at our navel, if not because of the resoluteness of this government, Nigeria would have been overrun.”
According to him, Mr Tinubu’s security policies, including combined military operations, domestic security measures and international partnerships, curbed the spread of killings and terrorist organisations across the Sahel.
He noted that Nigeria had strengthened security cooperation with the United States, including joint counter-terrorism operations, deepening the country’s capacity to confront terrorist groups.
“We joined collaboration with the United States government. We are now conducting strikes in Nigeria and killing those people,” Mr Bwala added.
Mr Tinubu’s aide also defended the government against criticism, stating that operational statistics released by the military indicated improvement in fighting terrorists and other non-state actors perpetuating violent attacks and kidnapping for ransom.
