The Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has said that Governor Uba Sani is a good ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda, for releasing N4.289 billion for payment of gratuities, death benefits and accrued rights of its members.

In a letter of appreciation signed by Aboman Ladan and Alhassan Balarabe Musa, the state Executive Chairman and Secretary respectively, the union noted that the gesture “has not only put smiles on the faces of pensioners but has gone a step further in renewing their hope on all other pending entitlements.’’

Last week, Mr Sani approved the release of N4.289 billion for the payment of retired civil servants and the families of deceased workers across state and local government services.

The approval covers payments under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights) and the Defined Benefit Scheme (Gratuities and Death Benefits), totalling 1,637 beneficiaries.

Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, N3,915,000,000 will be disbursed to 1,392 pensioners while 245 beneficiaries will receive a total of N374, 000,000 after payment.

The union noted, “The timely intervention has brought great relief and renewed hope to many of our members who have waited patiently for years. For numerous bereaved families, Your Excellency’s gesture has erased their burden and restored their faith in government.

‘’We are truly grateful for your compassion and for keeping the welfare of senior citizens at the heart of your administration. You are really an Ambassador of Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The letter however reminded  Mr Sani of outstanding liabilities as some pensioners had yet to receive their entitlements, especially the elderly.

The letter dated April 16, 2026 and with reference number NUP/KDS/HQ/VOL 2/25, expressed confidence in the governor’s ability to clear all pension liabilities, given his good will and track record.

Recall that with last week’s release, Mr Sani had paid a cumulative sum of N17.796 billion since he assumed office, benefitting about 8,344 retirees and families of deceased workers.
