The mayor of Ufa, the administrative center of Russia’s Bashkortostan region, has been detained on suspicion of corruption-related crimes, the Russian Investigative Committee said Tuesday.
Ratmir Mavliyev is also suspected of exceeding official authority, the committee said in a statement.
“The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee for Bashkortostan detained the head of the administration of the Ufa city on suspicion of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (exceeding official authority) and Part 6 of Article 290 (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale),” it said.
The deputy head of the city administration, the deputy head of the administration’s land and property relations department, and the director of a sanatorium are also suspected of exceeding their official authority.
As part of the criminal case, interrogations, searches, and seizures of documents have been conducted. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the accused is being decided.
