Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with chairpersons of the South-East caucus of the African Democratic Congress.
Martins Ugwu, head of the ADC media team in Enugu, said the meeting was a show of regional alignment aimed at consolidating the party’s regional structures. According to him, the meeting was Mr Obi’s first with the newly elected South-East chairpersons of the party in Enugu.
The meeting related to Mr Obi’s aspiration to contest the forthcoming ADC presidential primary and to strengthen cohesion, align leadership priorities, and deepen grassroots engagement across the South-East zone.
Mr Ugwu said the meeting focused on reinforcing internal party democracy and harmonising state-level operations.
Among those present at the meeting were Enugu’s chairman-elect, Augustine Akubue, alongside counterparts from Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Ebonyi.
