Internet browser developer Opera has announced it will launch a brand-new browser designed and optimised for cryptocurrency trading and other transactions in the blockchain space.
The feature called the Crypto Browser Project was announced on Wednesday that will allow non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to purchase blockchain news filters. It also has a privacy clipboard feature and a built-in non-custodial digital wallet for storing cryptos or NFTs.
“Too few of the web browsing experiences offered today have been built with the intention of putting Web3 centerstage and making blockchain technologies understandable and easy to use,” Opera said in its announcement. “With the Crypto Browser Project, we have set out to change this and starting today, we are inviting the blockchain community to join this mission.”
The feature is currently available as a pilot program on Mac and Windows desktops and Android for mobile users, while the iOS version is still in development.
The Crypto Browser Project supports crypto assets like Ethereum, Nervos, Bitcoin, and Celo for its beta launch. The company noted that it intends to expand its blockchain offerings as the project progresses.
A unique feature of this internet user interface is that the native crypto wallet is already programmed into the browser, eliminating the need to download other digital wallet extensions.
Opera said it “provides additional security as both the browser and the wallet, which will be released as open source soon, have been developed by the same trusted teams in Sweden and Poland.”
